Ríona Hely

Ríona Hely is a concertina player from Ennis, County Clare. She is currently studying music and Irish in UCC and is a recipient of the Quercus Creative and Performing Arts scholarship. Ríona learnt her music under the tutelage of Mary MacNamara in Tulla, and her style is heavily influenced by the regional style of East Clare. She passes on the tradition through teaching music both at home in Ennis and in Cork. She has won many accolades, most notably Siansa Gael Linn in 2023 with the group “Binneas”, the under-18 All-Ireland concertina title at the Fleadh in 2024, and most recently Bonn Óir Seán Ó Riada in January of this year.
